What are Chimpanzees?

Chimpanzees are great apes native to Africa. They are our closest relatives, sharing roughly 98.7% of our DNA. They are also some of the most intelligent animals, they can communicate and even use tools in certain situations. The often eat plants, fruits, and occasionally meat. They can grow from 3 to 5 feet tall and often weigh between 70 to 130 pounds. They have incedibly long arms, are covered in dark hairs, and walk on their knuckles.

Diet

Chimpanzees are omnivores, this can be seen by their teeth tha consitst of both flat and sharp teeth. They often eat fruits, leaves, plants, insects, nuts, and seeds. They will occasionally hunt mammals such as monkeys, young bushpigs, and small antelopes. Chimps will often hunt in organized groups and us strategies and tools.

Commuication

Chimps are incredibly social animals and communicate using a combination of vocalizations, gestures, factial expressions, and body language. They often communicate with gorillas and sometimes humans that raise them. They communicate to coordinate actios, manage social relationships, and share information.
